Well, after Capt Jake's and Mark's boat pictures, maybe I shouldn't be posting these. Oh well. Here's how to build a sloppy boat.

I put all the stuff on teporarily. None of it is even screwed down in the picture. The bowsprit isn't finished, the taffrail isn't either. The rudder is lying on the port seat although it's hard to tell in the picture that it is even there. The lazarette hatch will be scrapped in favor of a lower profile one.

One of the things I truly like about Weekenders is that they all share the same distinctive lines, and yet each one is unique. Yours is looking good!

Thank you, Bill, for the kind words. I am so tempted to put her on the trailer and get her bottom wet without finishing the top. Gotta resist and keep working.

Dave your Weekender is looking great. Don't let Capt. Jake's finished project scare you off.

SHHHHHHH! Don't let him know I said this, but....I think he has things he would like to do over if he could too.

I like your classic squared off cabin. You and Derek and Capt. Jake all share that along with several other builders. I wasn't sure I liked it when I first saw it, but It looks great. Some days it just seems like it will never get done. Looks like you are kinda at that stage. But I found that if I worked on some of the little finishing projects, like the bowsprit, boom, grab rails, etc., that I was seeing a lot of projects getting finished. They didin't take long and so when I only had a little while to do something, I would do something that I could see was making a difference. When I had time I would do something that would have to set for a while and dry or cure and keep rotating those jobs so I didn't get stalled. Then one by one they got finished and it all comes together.

You colors look really nice and you have made good progress. Now it is just keep on with the small project list.

More than one has been launched without being finished. Lots of those little trim/finish projects can be done when you can't find anything else to do.

I've just lofted the keel and seeing shots of where I will be in the not too distant future only spurs me on to get there sooner.

So keep it up guys and keep the photos rolling in (that doesn't screw around with the site too much does it Frank?). It gives ME and I guess all the other wannabes the push to be where you're at!

Nope' date=' that's why I modified the software to allow picture uploads! It makes it so much easier than trying to find a place to upload them and then link them back into a message.

So far, storage space is not a problem. We'll eventually have to purge old messages and old pictures from the forums, so if there are pics you want to save as long as messing-about is still messing-about, upload them to the Gallery. They won't get purged from there, and they are backed up nightly in case we have a server crash.

Let me reply with this comment. As long as your boat is safely built, and you get enjoyment out of it, Comparison should not be an issue. Excitement doesn't come in shine. It comes in the fresh air, the self satisfaction of completing a project, yourself and placing it in use.

Nice job on your boat. Some good ideas there. I just cut out the parts for the seat for my Weekender and began to wonder where I was going to put my big feet! The way your seat are looks to solve the problem.

Rob, where are you headed "up north"? If you'd like to make a detour to Rochester, you're certainly welcome to come by for a look. Let me know when.

Mark, I'm glad you like my seats. My knees don't like being bent for long periods of time so this was my solution. They have a tiny bit of spring to them and are quite comfortable. They are probably a bit higher than the plans show so there's not a lot of back support. The cabin bulkhead makes an excellent back rest though.

Jim T. Thanks for the compliments. I almost forgot to reply to your questions about the paint.

I was going to use Kirby's but ended up with whatever exterior latex enamel HD sells. The colors were matched to the color swatches from Kirby's though.

The bottom is called Green Gray, the space between the rails is Bottle Green and the rails will be See Red. We got a sand color (another match to a Kirby's color but I disremember the name) for the deck, cabin roof and seats. The cabin sides and floor in the cockpit will be Green Gray but I plan to make a grate of mahogany for the cockpit.
