Can the stringers be applied to the sides after unfolding?

Let's say you had a "friend" who forgot to put the stringers on the insides of the sides of the Core Sound before gluing the sides to the bottoms, just prior to unfolding.  Now that "friend" fears that to try and lift the sides up to apply the stringer would break the now glued and dried 12-14 inch puzzle joint with fiberglass tape on both sides.

 

Could the boat now just be stitched and unfolded and then the stringer glued in?

That's the way I did it on a CS-17 build a few years ago, mostly because they weren't going to be in the same place as shown on the plans and I wanted to use a laser level, to place their new location accurately, one the hull was leveled up. They were easy to bend in, though I did need to pickup new bevels for the top edge, which was very similar to the original location angles.

If you have a laser go with Par's suggestion. There' a quite few ifs involved in unfolding a boat. Not all of them work out as planned. I've done both methods and I like laser because it will give you flat seat tops all on the same plane. There's a lot to be said for that. I hang the stringers with temporary sheetrock screws through the sides and it does not take any time at all. In fact I would argue that it takes less time -including filling the holes after. PeterP
