Spindrift 11S

Have just 3D'd a new Spindrift build and have had several of the issues discussed elsewhere on this forum - eg ripping of the glass tape at the butterfly join. I took the measure of pulling everything apart and starting again. Second attempt is closer but the issue that I need to overcome is an overlap of the panels in the curve of the stem. I can't force or finesse them to meet at the join for about 10" (250mm). Before I take to it with a saw can anyone with prior experience suggest a fix. Have not been able to find a measurement error and started with a nice fair curve. I'm listening!

I suggest you repost on the topic page below "B & B Yachts Forum". I have not built a Spindrift but have built a few "Butterfly" S&G boats and the stem is usually wired up as you wire the centerline and unfold - before bending the butterfly sides back and wiring them. And of course when you have a stubborn section - add more wires.

I built a spindrift a few years ago and found that it helps to start with the wires rather loose and tighten them in very small increments working from one end of the boat to the other and then repeating until things get snugged up correctly.  You can then usually see a misalignment in time to correct it by tightening or loosening the appropriate wire as needed.  Its easy to get in a little bit of a hurry at that point because you're anxious to see the flat panels turn into a boat.
