Floor Boards / Bunk Boards

I'm finally making time to make some long awaited floor boards.. Is it wrong to use 5.5" wide 3/4" thick dark fir for the long pieces? Going across for support beams I was thinking cheap pine since it could wind up rotting easier (cheap to replace). The supports would end 3/4" before the edge on each side to fit between supports for the bunk position. Thoughts?

Nothing wrong with fir.. I also like cypress.

I'm using 3/4" x 3.5" dark fir, length wise.. The plan is to use 3/4" thick beams width wise underneath to support slats. The slats will rest on 1.5"x3/4" pieces on the sides, same height as thwart supports or sit on bottom of boat. Any thoughts on support pieces, or beams underneath?

For one side it seams that I need 3/4" to 1" spacing in between the four pieces of slats to work out right. Does this sound comfortable for sleeping?

I used cedar ripped off the edge of cedar posts from the local big box store. I eventually settled on 3/4" by 2" stock over a few stringers. This is the forward cockpit area with them raised up. Very light weight and oil finished. 1" x 1/8" aluminum angle stock is screwed to the slats to keep them in the raised position.
