The plans have specs for most of the requirements however are there good alternatives? I found some heavy duty diamond braiid poly rope at the Home Depot. 1/2" x 100 feet for $10.00 thought it might make great anchor line. It has a 240lb working load limit. Thnx, Jim Quote

Poly floats, which is why many like to use it for water skiing tow ropes, but UV rays from direct sunlight eats it up. I'd stick with nylon, twisted is supposed to give more stretch than braided. Ground tackle may not be the best place to try saving a few dollars... Quote

ecgossett Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 West Marine usually has some precut ropes that have been returned for a good price. For $37 Wally World has a great price on 150ft of anchor line right now. Carla/B&B didn't have enough of the special S hooks they use so I bought some at ACE and bend one end in with a vice clamp.
