Joe(Cold Spring onHudson) Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 Hi guys those that know me from the OTHER place know that from time to time I enthralled everyone with my household projects. I hope I can occasionally put up some non boat related post here from time to time. If I'm off base just let me know and Ill remove the post. So here it is spring time and I was walking around the compound looking at all the projects I need to complete. One of them is this huge bent Atlantis tree growing into the roof of the barn. I climbed up and started to chainsaw it as far as I could from above. So I can fell it without damaging the roof. While I was up there, WOW what a view :shock: You can see all the project that need my attention this spring. Look in the above right of the photo below you can see the pond and waterfall. The pond needs to be dredged out with a backhoe. I tried yesterday with a wheelbarrow and a shovel. You know what happens when you fill a wheelbarrow with wet gravel and the wheelbarrow is sitting in mud? You cant budge it since it weighs 1,0000 lbs LOL. I had to shovel the gravel OUT of the wheelbarrow talk about a lot of work for nothing. Its too bad because the gravel is about the consistency of my driveway and I want to just move it from the pond to the driveway. After dredging the pond, I'm going to install wire baskets Believe it or not Donn's idea :shock: I think there called ( gambels ) sp?? And fill them with stones for the entrance and exit of the pond to prevent the silting. Also so I can stock it with some trout. Last year believe it or not we use to dive off the dock into 5 ft of clear pond < sob sob >. Next on the list is the rock bed in front of the house that you can see with the large maple tree and 2 Azalea bushes. Currently its overgrown and I want to clear it out and plant wild flowers. Also you can see on the left side of the house another stone wall bed that I want to plant an herb garden. Lots of work and don't forget all the leaves. Oh now I'm off to cut down the tree. Joe's right, it's just physics of the simple Newtonian mechanics type. Why not promise Joe and tribe a picnic in return for a tree felling seminar? I do small trees in our city neighbourhood when it is just to silly to pay someone, but here's a little secret, shhhhh - we try to take the tree down when a couple of the "can do" guys aren't around. We got Oyster ( and he is nice here ) ya know I love ya ya mollusk. Dingo pops in from time to time. It's been dead for years, and isn't in danger of falling on the house, so it's been pretty low priority. However, it IS in reach of falling and crushing the kayaks, which would be a major major bummer. Quote

Personally, I'm going to go to the Paddlesports show in New Jersey today and ogle all the new gizmos and gadgets that I don't need. How did that happen :evil: I guess because I left the door open and allowed all YOU riff raf in Shane we have had some WARM days here I was tempted to go sailing yesterday it was that warm - even got a little sun on my bald pate :oops: BUt March be a fickle month and we can still get a Noreaster before Easter.
