Oyster Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Nothing special to see here, but would like yo get some imput if at all possible of interior layouts in small runabouts that any one here has seen in the past. There seems to be the common thwart seats which in most cases are structual. But in these hulls, the boat is pretty much self supporting. I am using simular liftout thwarts that also can be repositioned for rowing. So whats say have any of your fiine folks seen anything that stands out in your own mind? The boat will have a tiller handle steering but also the motor is set up for an electric start 9.8 Tohastu four stroke, so weight foward is also a plus in layouts with remote steering too. The boat can be stretched to 14 foot but now 12 foot and stretched to 13'7" as you see it. Quote

Ken_Potts Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Hi Oyster, I can't think of anything that would be better than what you've built but as far as different goes - I built a little fishing boat with a friend several years ago and we installed a bench seat that ran from bow to stern. When motoring along we could trim the boat by moving forward or back and when there were two of us fishing we could face port and starboard to cover the whole area around the boat. I believe it was Ray who gave me the idea for this seating arrangement and it worked quite well for that boat. the seat actually stiffened the plywood hull up a good amount too (though Duckling doesn't appear to need any stiffening). All things considered I think your arrangement is better for Duckling - The fore-and-aft seat was better for my friend's little boat. Quote

Its the sistership of my second son's hull. Now all of my kidlits have a boat, including my wife and grandson, 'cept he will need grandpa to hlep him for a while to row it. Thanks for the suggestion. The green is actually a pale green about half what Duclin' is, but shows darker under the cover. Quote

If it were me, I would figure out a way to clamp in beach chairs, the ones with backs that are short, both for comfort and to use when you reach shore. Knowing your skills, you could probably whip something out of wood and cane up that would compliment your boat. Look very Adarondakian to... Quote
