Reply to Russ, I see my gold mine message I tried to post yesterday evening finnaly showed up after I wrote and posted the same info.  Russ I am in north central Louisiana, West Monroe and across the river is the shining metropolis of Monroe.  The lumber yard I got the fir at is out on I-165 just north of monroe, all told about twenty five miles from my house as the road goes.  I will be back at the yard today and tommorrow for sure and probably a little lighter in the wallet.

Guess what, I talked to John, owner of the lumber yard, he is getting rid of the douglas fir and has a special price.  This stuff is #1, most is select material.  He won't deliver today because of rain and doesn't want the load to get wet.  He has another load in the area and mine will be on it.  Here is hte great news, he is liquidating his fir stock and going to mostly cyprus, high demand in this are along with regular stock that he has higher demand for.  His fir was marked at $2.59 a board foot for 1 inch stock material regardless of width.  He is letting me get as much as I want for $1.50 a board foot, unreal, sometimes you get lucky.  I was quoted $12 to $16 per board foot for the select #1 2" x 8 to 12 inch widths.  I got that stuff for $5 per board foot.  Think I need to get as much as I can afford, be tight with electricity doubleling in price, fuel fee has more than dobled the bill around here, pain in the foot to say the least.  Some of you guys must be really getting hit hard, keep ya in our prayers on that one.

Hi Jim Johno here from down under,mate I have been giggleing for a good half hour with an image of your missus cutting up frozen fish on the radial arm ,did she switch on the dust extractor lol? I suppose the band saw is more dignified,one day you might find her using your router to mix a cake,get a photo if  she does lol!

That must be Bradford lumber. I will be beginning a CS17 when I finish building my shop in my backyard in Ruston. Did you buy all their fir?

Hey Ruston, yes I got all the fir I found, he may have a few sticks and 1 by 8 boards.  I am in West Monroe, just down the interstate from you.  Home 397-2201  and cell 355-3994.  Call and come on by, you might just keep me moving when I get slowed and or stuck.  I do I think, Have a 2x12 by 16 footer I may have as an extra and don't mind getting into the hands of another B&B builder.

Johno downunder.  It took a month to clean both saws.  I played heck trying to clean the bandsaw blade wheels well enough to keep the blade in place, talk abbout a slick cutter.  She has used a few tools in a rather unorthodox manner, I have caught her using a skill saw to cut fire wood when the chain saw wouldn't start.  I thank goodness she really isn't into cooking as mch as I am or the sander might be found outside at the BBQ where it would be necessary to clean the grill all too frequently.  She has cleaned it with a wire wheel on the drill, saved time.
