It will occur on the last weekend of July at Marble Beach camp ground on the west side of Spirit Lake. An additional attraction this year is that I sceduled it to coincide with the wooden boat festival at Okoboji (about 5 miles south). barryhill Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Sure plannin' on it. Dug the neighbor's old boat trailer out of the grove today. Its sat for about ten years since I last used it. I'll re- pack the bearings, wire the lights (Man! the rodents love plastic insulation) and if I'm flush I'll spring for a spare. The guys in Windom accepted my proposal for restoring their old duckboat so I need to get over that way. First have to clean out and fix up the shed. Back in the boat business after all these years. Still another week or so to go on the cabins up north. Then I'll be home full time for awhile. Saw the pic of the Canu sailing. I'll bring along the latteen. Made a new yard. An 8' 2x4 split would make a mast. 60 sq. ft. would make her scoot. Looking forward to being out on Spirit after spending so much time there as a kid. Bob Quote
lewisboats Posted June 15, 2007 Author Posted June 15, 2007 Looking forward to seeing you...I made a new rudder for it last night at work, .100 stainless with stainless cheeks and a .25 tiller section. I am going to set it up as a dual purpose push/pull and rope tiller arrangement. I am planning on making a decent sail for it too...about 45-60 sq ft with a longer mast and sprit. I will replace the smaller Noodles with 4" diameter ones also. I will be arriving early afternoon Friday, planning on seeing the wooden boat parade on Okoboji Saturday either before or after the pot luck supper ...depending on what time it is at. Sunday will be a lazy day before noon then heading home. (More info...thanks Frank) Steve Quote
