Frank Hagan Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Congratulations, Craig! Is this your first? The one I built is the "Baby Tender II" from Jordan Wood Boats at http://www.jordanwoodboats.com. He also has a more traditional looking lapstrake version that he calls the "Baby Tender", and a stitch and glue cradle boat called the Papoose. If you build the Baby Tender II, go with ply for the bottom rather than the planks. I was concerned about wood movement when I built it, and sure enough there was a crack in one of the planks ... went KEEEEER-AAACK! and scared the parents to death! It has stabilized since then, and no new cracks have happened. I had worried about it because each bottom plank is screwed to the bottom in three places on each end and in the middle. Not a lot of room for movement there! Quote
