Here are a few things I have learned so far:

Hand planes are sharp :(

Blood stains do not enhance the look of marine plywood :(

Knuckle bandaids are wonderful :D

Bugs stuck in epoxy sand pretty easily :)

Bugs stuck in epoxy look a lot like those fossils of bugs caught in amber. Hmmm... Prehistoric boat building project?

That's all for now. Feel free to add to my list. I see a book in the future ...

Around here there aren't any bugs until there is wet epoxy or urethane or varnish on my gloves. Then the half of the bugs discover my face and the rest retire to the goo...

An emergency trip to the boat supply store in the summer will reveal only fast hardener on the shelves - In the winter only slow stuff.

The phone only rings when I'm mixing epoxy.

Jeff,

Those are rules to live by, especially the one about quitting when you get tired. That is when I make the most mistakes (and injuries).

I do have another boat to sail. I built a 12 footer about 4 years ago that I need to get out from under the cover and get wet again. Too obsessed with the project right now, but I'll hit a wall at some point and that's when I'll need to remember to go sail.
