last Weekend Lake Pleasant

Drove to the Phoenix area and sailed with some nice folks - I made a crappy video - part of the problem was that I am sick and couldn't hold the camera, the sheet, and cough without dropping the camera....but it was a good and windy trip with some fun sailing.

I am convinced that the boat feels better with at least 200lbs in the cabin. I had my dog and several coolers there and she was sooooo responsive and stable when it got windy or we were hit with wakes. We had water coming over the rail a couple of times - but thats what scuppers are for.

Dave - I would settle for a runny nose this thing i have is a cough...and more coughing...keeps me from sleeping...anyways - I have some more pics.

unfortunately there are none taken from outside the boat on the water...couldn't figure out how to do that w/o a waterproof camera. (on the list of things to get)

When i go camping it is ALL Willie Nelson - ALL the time....so, I though it appropriate for the video - but I couldn't get Windows movie maker to not cut the songs off - oh well I'll do better next time.

Lots of fun - THe guy in the Video is Bill Olney from the Phoenix area - he is now inspired to get his boat done --- he is tired of sailing on mine instead of having his own boat. I wasn't sure what I thought about Lake Pleasant at first...but after we got settled in - I decided it was a real nice place and in the afternoons and early morning there was no want for wind....the duldrums came in the mid morning....but we just hung out on the boat and watched a stink pot catch on fire....good thing they didn't depend on us to get to them ---no wind and electric jib it was just too far away - another power boat ran out to the rescue.

It was lots of fun - I am getting Morgaine's kinks worked out...her steering was better but still too sloppy so I am changing up from the stock set up to pintles and gudgeons...I also might modify the pipe I am using to make it wider where the rope twists around it....It was sure fun none the less.

Thanks for those additional photos. I sure appreciate seeing them.

My new sails are ready to go on the boat. The gaff jaws just need leathering, the mast has a new coat of varnish and I just need to get the boat out of storage and clean out the mouse poop.

Your sail is what building your own boat is all about. Your Morgaine is a sharp looking Lady. I especially like the sleeves over the stays, a real fine touch.

I activated your gallery at www.aurorawolf.com I don't know why I have to, I suppose I don't have some section enabled properly. If you want to post a teasing tibit on the Alaska Sailing Forum for us frozen folks that would be nice too. I know the Ladies would love to hear your story.

I added some photos to the gallery for you FroZeN FoLks! I don't know why you had to activate me - might have been a combination of my own ignorance and the software - but mainly me....took me a minute to see the UPLOAD FILE button - duh. The lanterns do look neat in the pic -they really lit the boat up so we could see what we were doing the night we got there and then I just sat back and enjoyed seeing Morgaine ready to go sailing - just waitn' for morning.

I wish I had taken a better video but - what we didn't catch on video was some really fun sailing. We were really moving along and even had a scary moment hehehe it wasn't all that bad - just a little crosswind is all. Once I get the steering squared away (again) Morgaine will be ready for the rest of the summer. I CAN NOT WAIT!

I love your ballast, too. My dog, a newfie-border collie cross managed to crawl through the forward bulkhead into the forepeak one. I was afraid we'd have to take the boat apart to get her out. ! :shock: :roll:

Doc, did the sails arrive? Are they alright?

ok i can't help it -

the ballast is a real pumpkin - her idea of "guard the tent" is wrapping herself around it and then thumping down for the afternoon. She is an english mastiff - and they are perimeter dogs (they love to scout the area in intervals) ...camping is her favorite because it is the only time she gets sausage and fried potatoes...

the semester is going ok - mid terms went well and i got a letter monday that i am getting some sort of award.... :oops: i don't even know what i did -

Oh, wow. The sails came today; check's in the mail, they are beautiful. I understand the fellow who made them had some problems, but he made nice sails. Even jibstay clips. How cool.

I'm trying to picture a) a Newfie Bordie mix and a Newfie Bordie mix stuck in the forepeak :shock:

Pepe, (the Newfie/Bordie) is 85 lbs of hair. Here's the best picture I could find of her. She's usually asleep. Somewhere I have the picture of her head sticking out of the forehatch. Sorry for the hijack, Adla.
