Bundle 'O' hoops and others

Finally have the mast hoops installed. Fit pretty good, though I could have made them a tad smaller. I might be persuaded to pry my fingers off of the parrel bead hoops. I think the parrel would work very well, if the mast were 'round'. As mine is basically square, with the corners knocked down, they tended to hang up a bit on a reach and downwind.

Also there is a shot of the gaff bridle-saddle, at least my version. I am hoping it will eliminate the twist in the peak halyard that I was having. This eliminates one change of direction. The two sheaves on the bottom run on a line that spans from the jaws to the tip of the gaff. The single sheave (top) takes the peak halyard back up to a becket on the sheave (on the mast).

Those look really nice Capn' - really nice. i added a pulley to my peak...and made the number of pulleys for the peak and throat the same - i haven't experienced any twist but i am going sailing this weekend so - we shall see. This will actually be the first time the boat is rigged properly...so, i will be keeping an eye on my mast hoops - looking for stress.

speaking of reefs...a couple of neighbors were walking by and saw my mast up - turns out they were professional sail makers in Hawaii - moved to vegas. I told them about wanting reef points and may be able to work something out later with them....perty neat.

Hey, adla, next time you "fall" into something, see if there's a free weekender trailer in there somewhere. With all the modifications already made. Painted a nice, light, pearly beige color.....and a bag of cash with it in a matching bag.....
