Believe it or not, someone recommended to me that I name my Pocket Cruiser "Blue By You" also, but they recommended spelling the first part "Blew By You" so it would capture the sense of color and of wind (sailing). If you like the idea and haven't painted the name on the transom yet, you're welcome to use it. We ended up naming our PC "Something Blue" (or should it be "Something Blew"?... haven't painted it on the boat yet). We built our PC for our honeymoon, so the phrase seemed appropriate, since it's borrowed from the old wedding superstition that a bride must wear "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" Anyway, your boat is looking great. Blue Bayou is a Roy Orbison song and if you look at the lyrics...fits quite well. The only reason we chose Blue was because that is the hull color. I was wondering about your turning the space under the foredeck into cubby holes--do you think that'll be more useful than one big space? Also, do you plan to put deckplates over the openings in the sides of your forward tanks? Graham warned me about leaving side openings when water is sloshing around the bilge. Quote

I was going for a color match to my egyptian cream colored sails...the sails will be darker than the deck though. All thats going to be bright are the sprits, deck hatch tops, rudder blade, maybe coamings and the gunwales. The holes in the forward compartment are cut out for plastic screw in covers. The rear cockpit seat compartments will have hinged covers. I gotta let her sit for a week to get the paint to dry before turing back upright. Then its finishing and outfitting time. I am planning a christening party in mid to late november. Anyone in the Portland area who wants to come is welcome. The cubby holes area at the foredeck is primarily a support structure for the fordeck. I want to be able to sit or stand on the foredeck without worry of structural failure. I figure it will be a good place to store bumpers and various garb. Quote

I got the tanbark sails -- very striking, and easy to distinquish from all the plain vanilla sloops out there. For the hull, I'm still trying to find a sand or tan that I continue to like from one week to the next! I kept the underdeck for foot room when camping, but also worried about my 200lb jumping around on the foredeck, so I used a somewhat deeper deckbeam with greater curvature, and put in a good deal of additional framing. Glad I did: feels pretty solid. Quote

I didn't mean to imply I don't like "Blue By You"... I just thought I would toss out the alternative spelling in case you hadn't considered it. I think my preference would still be for "Blue By You" (the way you had it) because I would worry (if it were me) that "Blew By You" would look too much like the pretentious names people give to speed boats... as in: "Hah, hah, we just totally blew by you like you were going backwards!" Not a good boast for a sailboat, unless you're only in the presence of other sailboats, in which case the CS20 may indeed "blow by them" LOL Quote
