Can't locate my 3rd FRS. I am charging my spare VHF at the moment. Can't gaurantee how long the battery will last though.

Called Joel and got his voice mail. I don't think he will be there.

I have a guy at work in mind, I'll call him (he probabaly has other things hapening as well).

Ballast? I normally take bottled water, two beers for my wife, vienna sausage, two cans, in a small compact cooler, one gallon of drinking water, and I placed about 12 to 14 pounds of wheel weights fabricated in the centerboard. Is that what you wanted to know? No I am not ballast. I lost most of that in the last year.

Alas, due to an almost Rube Goldbergian series of events beginning with a dead car battery and resulting in the police being summoned to my brothers home, my nephew's birthday party has been moved to Sunday at Noon. So I won't be availabe to sail until early evening.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner guys. I had to work some extra hours this week. John , too many 3am emergencies at work last week so...I have been turning my cell phone off after hours. I will email you my my home phone number. Sunday won't work for me. We have a house warming party to go to. If anybody wants to go Monday let me know. As of now I still have off in the afternoon

Just got back and all cleaned up (the boat that is) and put away!

What a day!!! moderate wind to start. Then it died, but we noticed boats to the North getting a Northerly wind (we had been on a Westerly). Motored over there and it was sail on!

I had been leading Stump all day but he caught some better wind and beat me over to the Northerly. I was a ways behind but soon caught and passed him (sorry Stump). We figure that I had a good two knots on them. Anyway I continued West to a point very near the Kingston Ferry docks (wish I could find a map to show y'all). Rail nearly in the water the whole way over. Ended up on a reach on the return trip, but that went well also, until the wind died out again.

Aside from dodging ferrys, large power boats, tugs and bargs, it was an awesome day! Tell you what, the water is a lot rougher up by Seattle, mainly due to all of the traffic, but there are some strange currents there also.

We left out of the boat launch in West Seattle and the Kingston ferry dock is on the Key Pennisula. I am guessing it is about 6 miles out, maybe a tad more.

I am still swaying in my seat and finding this hard to write. It feels like my desk is moving. :shock:

Oh, the only folks who made it were Stump (and his boat), Barry (he went with Stump) and myself (soloing again).

Once we got out of the bay into the open water the wind picked up nicely and the sailing was great. Once again had trouble with my steering after a bit. The rope must be stretching a lot. That is the first thing I have to really fix. Not just work around.

It was great having Barry with me for the day. I always learn so much without even knowing that I am. 8)

The difference between the lapper and stock foresail was huge!!! capt jake had about 2 knots on me, passed me like I was standing still :shock: (Yes, I am jealous )

That is the second thing I have to do, make a lapper.

I was using my 55lbs. trust electric to come back in because as soon as we got back into the bay the wind stopped. capt jake came charging up with little outboard so I begged a tow the rest of the way. I would have made it, just very slowly :roll: :oops: :wink:

I offered him my paddle, as Barry already knows how to use it! I really had high hopes for my 55# electric, but I am loving the 4hp outbard!! :)

i had to go back to Seattle AGAIN today to pick up the brass 1/2 oval for the Mini-Paw. While I was there, I splurged and bought a 6' stick of 1 1/2" for the bow of my Weekender. Not bad really. It was only $37. 12' of 5/8" for the Mini was only $27.
