Long long time no hear

Hi all,

it's been a while, a long while, a very long while.

As you probably remember, I got a promotion in work, and have been up the walls since. That was busy enough, but since we were also house hunting, I had no time for boats. , or browsing the net. :roll:

We've been looking all over the county for the last two years, but have finally found a house 1.5 miles away.

It's on a 1/4 acre of beautiful gardens, with .....wait for it.......

a mooring at the end of the back garden.

It backs onto a tidal estuary, that goes out to the harbour via Crosshaven and Drake's Pool (where Drake hid from the Spanish).

It's a drying mooring, but who's complaining. I've posted pictures.

I have finally bitten the bullet and bought an outboard (Honda 4Stroke 2.3HP) and motor mount. Now all I have to do is make and fit the tiller and we're back in the water.

I'll have to figure out if I need bottom antifouling for a drying mooring.

Welcome back Fintan and thanks for bringing us up to date . I did not see the pics but am looking forward to doing so. Your place sounds nice. What is a "drying mooring"? One that the tide empties?

Yep, Ray's right ... you'll need the bottom paint. Or you can copper sheath your boat, but I think the bottom paint is probably the better way to go!

You could also build a dock with a hoist at the end of it, but I think the mooring and bottom paint is probably prettier ... and you have a fantastic view from that house! Ireland is one of the prettiest places I've ever been, and that's one of the best views of the prettiest place!

What a beautiful place to live. My wife would be so jealous. I's nice you could stay to close to where you were. Cork is a very nice place to be, the weather seems to be about perfect there. I'm going to get back to your neighborhood some day.
