Tis a funny world we live in

I have been through Brunswick many times when I was in WA (a lovely little place) - but now that I'm in the ACT I long for the water WD is having.

My folks are still in WA but 'up north' in Two Rocks and are enjoying the rainfall

We are in level 2 water restrictions in the ACT (on the east coast 3000kms away) and a town called Goulburn 100K's north has been on level 6 for almost 2 years - their damn is due to run out of water by Christmas and they are about to begin a $3m AU pipeline to a lake that will provide water for 4 more months, after that ??????

Maybe I shouldn't be building a boat out here!!! Or maybe I should go the whole hog and start on the 50' for the ocean cruise :shock:

Yes the patterns are fickle. Ed Jones and Oyster have been rained out for two weeks running. It just will not quit. Crestview, appox 20 mi N. of here, is getting rain every day. Here on the beach it is dry as a bone. Now, wait until tomorrow night! First of the year and damned if it ain't coming here again. Still nothing like Dingo is suffering with though. Water is the gift that keeps on giving, good and bad. Sorta the luck of the draw I guess.

We endure no worries just have to wait on the mongrel insurance company to decide just exactly they are going to cover and then get to fixin it

Theres much we simply cant replace memories treasures of people loved ones from the past etc Jody finds that the hardest to take and spends much time trying to clean and sort something from the shards that are left, but shes a gem and will find her feet soon tough as heck is my possum and is a real treasure when the phone rings! Gawd I hate that thing!

Theres much now gone that was precious and yes most is replacable when we get back on our feet, but first things first, first the house has to be jacked up another 2ft making it 5ft off the ground which if I dont somehow build a couple of sets of stairs the missus will have some serious probs dealing with as shes just under 5ft tall

Then a job would be next Id think as the company let me go when I couldnt make the flight to the new mine not to worry, if they dont have the compassion to understand Im over it, so another job will have to be found since the tools were meant to be my new working life but they can also be bought again as time moves on

The loss of all the furniture and most of our effects is a real problem just now but again they can be replaced at some time in the future if the insurance mob decide to be total mongrels, but were tryin not to think the negatives and consentrating on the positives

Aside from the tools I guess for me the loss of all my boat plans would be the next worse thing but again they too can mostly be replaced given money and time. Funny after all this time Id finally gotten around to purchasing the Stevensons plans and now theyve decided that they can sail far better as paper boats than as wooden ones and taken off over the horizon!!!

Jody reckoned she wanted to renovate well now she has no excuse eh! :roll:

I guess the kids are getting stronger although the arguing and bickering has begun as they try to come to terms with the situation and their own losses, harder on the little ones than us adults since they had just begun to collect their little precious things dolls toys books clothes and such and its hard when they realise that its gone sad as hell watching them trying to be strong, funny creatures kids thats for sure, Joshy (10) and Brie (12) went searchin the other day and came back giggling like demented chooks over their "finds"... 1 pair of bras, 2 pairs of nickers, a small doll, one of my small wooden half models of Fame and a chocolate!!! yep still in its wrapper but totally covered in mud... nope they didnt eat it but it was worth a giggle! Then they worked out whos doll it was and Jacinta set to crying as it was broken so they all gathered around her and raided the change boxes of the car and Bethany tootled of to the shop and bought her another smaller and not the same but she now sleeps with it.

Joshy is having probs sleeping with the rain and storms still happening and they being at Jodys mothers place 25klicks away from me he wakes screaming that the creeks taken me and doesnt stop till he hears my voice on the phone, then hes a koala as soon as he sees me man its an increadible roller coaster of emotions around here!

But were alive and well aside from colds and being frozen! Amazing how cold a home can be when theres absolutely nothing in it! But at least the muds gone and the house is clean again only took 3 weeks to get it that way gawd mud sticks!!

Thank God you, the wife, and kids are OK. Saralee says what ever don't kill you makes you stronger. I am not real sure about that, however, the family is what's valuable. Please let us know if there is anything we can help with Shane. Hang in there ole son, we're all pulling for you.

P.S. Mongrel is one of the nicer names I have used lately refering to insurance companies. The rest I can't put into a public post...
