Designer Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 As the staysail is an off wind sail, it is normal to attach the tack to the windward rail to get more area in the staysail. You may have noticed when flying spinnakers that the further off the wind the boat goes the further outboard the spinnaker pole is set. There is probably no one perfect spot to fix the staysail tack for all angles to the wind. It is a good idea to experiment, you can see the picture of the staysail being used while the other sails are wing and wing allowing us to sail very deep down wind. There is a small gap in front of the webbing on the mizzen which should allow enough room for a fitting on which you can attach the staysail halyard. Quote

Graham, should I mount the tack fitting 18" aft of the mainmast and the halyard 24" aft of the mizzen? You seemed to imply those distances for a boat as big as the cs20 in a previous post. Quote
