MN Messabout March update

Never mind that we're getting 6" of snow today. It can't keep it up forever! By June 3-5, it'll be warm, sunny and the sailing will be awesome.

If you live within driving distance of Southern Minnesota, I want to personally invite you to the Minnesota Messabout at Lake Pepin. So far I've heard from people in six states who are coming, and this event is shaping up to be one of the largest gatherings of homebuilt boats in the upper Midwest.

Thanks for the reminder about the Messabout. (I've been meaning to drop you a notye, sorry I haven't)

Now what's this about 6" of snow? Is that all? We've already got that on the ground this morning and it's still going at it like it is serious. Oh well, maybe Nokomis will be up this summer. We can only hope.

Hopefully Pepin won't be up too much by the time of the Messabout.

One things for sure: we'll have enough water to do some serious sailing. That's why Konrad should come join us. The last couple of years he hasn't seen enough rainwater to float a dinghy. I've already heard from two other fellas in Omaha and a friend in South Dakota who are tired of the drought, and want to go sailing.

There is still a chance that I'll be relocated to The Cities by then and I'll have the yellow sailed boat with. I'm in Mendota Heights right now looking at these flurries and wondering when the real snow is going to hit I found out this week that I do in fact have a job here and it's just a matter of when I'll be moving. So it looks like the MN fleet will be gaining a member and the Alaska fleet will be losing one. Of course, Laura will have her skipjack done soon so there won't be a net loss for the northern most fleet

Now back to practicing my "Ufff dahs" and "Yah, sure, youbetcha's"

John, you're just a little too far north for the snow. I'd guess there was 8 inches out on the picnic table outside the cafeteria when I was up there at 2.

There's about 4 inches or so outside the window here. Hardly enough to even notice for where I'm from. Still, it looks like ol' mother nature might be getting serious about it, I can barely see across the parking lot. I think it's about time to head to the bar.

I've been watchin' the temps. It makes the national news when some podunk in Northern Minnesota hits -57F for one night. Sheesh, stop you're whining and put a sweater on! We've had weeks of that kind of temp before and not a peep on the news.

I'm just looking forward to the extra 2 or 3 months of sailing weather!

You and Mike are limited to July and Winter up there arn't you? In ND years ago when it started to snow we all ran for Jolly Johnny's Emerado Saloon and prayed for more! If you are going to be snowed in it might as well be at the bar. Our prayers were answered on occasion too.
