Patriotskipper Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Only a few small details remain before she's ready for christening! Up to this point, I had been calling her "Patriot". But after much soul searching I have decided to christen this boat Miss B after my wife. Not surprisingly, the process of deciding a name has taken longer than the process of selecting the design! Now to re-assure your superstitions, my boat has not ever been christened with any other name, has never been in the water, has never had a name painted on her, I'm only now making her logbook, and I've been careful to erase references to "that other name" from any other media. If the rest of you "old salts" think it necessary, I'll also perform a de-naming ritual before the christening. As of now the christening ceremony and party is planned for late April 2005 on Atwood Lake here in NE Ohio. You may all consider this an invitation to attend. Quote

So how can he be mad? Looks like you have a great place to sail her too! I had a dozen people show up for my launch, and the night before I dreamed that as I backed the trailer back down the dock, the boat just sank with the trailer until only the mast was sticking up. Marshall Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Frank, I too had those nightmares. My launching was very private, only my wife for those same reasons. I knew it wouldn't leak, but being a novice sailor I was concerned about stability. Thank goodness there was light winds and she handled well, even in the gusts. I had never done anything like this before, so it was a grand feeling sailing all around the small lake Quote
Charlie Jones Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 lol- Talk about pre launch jitters. We launched this one on a Monday so it would be sorta quiet. Turned out there over 100 people showed up and watched from the bridge AND the TV news was there. We had to crane it OVER the buildings in the back ground Those tag lines were 35 feet long and at one point they could not be reached from the ground - GULP!!! Congrats on Miss B. I imagine knowing that the newspeople are hoping to get some "action" may have made it worse ... at least at my launch, every one was HOPING it would float!
