Deck dimensions

I'm trying to make up the deck for my weekender but have a question about the width of the deck at the joint between to foredeck and the two sides behind the fore deck. The inset shows the fore deck as being 4' wide a station line #5 but the diagram in figure #5 shows the two sides (mid-section of the deck) being equal to 50" at the same joint. Which figure is correct. How do you correct? I have already cut out the two side segments.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the joint. Make yourself to home. I don't have my plans in front of me but if I remember correctly, the 50" dimension is correct. You need to add a little scrap of plywood on each side to make up the difference. Don't worry, though. By the time you're done with it you'll never know those little pieces are there.

It is similar to the added pieces on the bottom panel.

Just checked the plans Dave and you are right.

Dick, you'll have a small triangle on either side after you assemble the pieces. you can either fill it with plywood piece or just use a filler and fair smooth when finshing. (that's what I did) :wink:

Yes, you have to cut small triangles to fill those areas. The stringers will hold those triangles in place.

The proves we all had the same problem It's hard to see, but the 1" wide holes are there. I cut small triangles and glued them in.
