Last Swimmer Expidition of the year

Tomorrow we start the last of two days for Swimmer expeditions for the year because of high expectations of ice. Also because of the freezing weather I may not last long boating in the cold weather. Also I found cracks in Swimmer's hull, so we will probably spend the winter fixing her.

Monday I will try to post with what happened and weather The Recovery race is over in Alaska.

Swimmer had a pretty full summer season, and so she may indeed need some work over the winter. You will need to let us know about the last expedition and the final results of the Recovery Race!

While I was up at the cabin doing nothing, Laura was bringing Swimmer in from the dock when she found something but she didn't know what it was.[Our neighbor had an old rail boat shed]So she ran up to tell me that she found something. Once at the location, I guessed It was a train wheel and once it was on land we realized that I was right. Laura watched over the operation as me and dad worked together to get the train wheel onto Swimmer.

Near shore, We again worked together to get it on to Steve's[Dads brother]ATV and then he brought our wheel on the beach. We stored the wheel and a recovered cement cylinder under our dock. :wink:

Sounds like a real treasure to me. I will tell the boys when I find them. They headed out of here before daylight with backpacks full heading to the ravine and creek behind the house. I do not know if they plan to use Dragon today.

We had some hull damage after the first expedition which was then repaired and Dragon had been doing okay since. Sam ran her up on some rocks near the launch site while coming back in.

We went back to that lake but the grass growing on the bottom was so thick that you could not see the bottom. There are a couple of other small lakes we heard are better so those are the next places to explore.

We still hope to have good weather for another week, but our window of nice weather is closing fast now too. This weekend and next are the last ones for the treasure hunt. Oct. 2 is the cut off. I wish Swimmer and her crew could do a joint expedtion with Dragon and her crew. Maybe sometime in the future? We could all run off to someplace really warm maybe. 8)

Ok, we will make passage by sailing Dragon down from Lake Michigan, to the Chicago River system, to the Mississippi, to the Gulf, to the Canal, then across the Pacific. Where in Australia should we meet? We should get there in about 10 years or so.
