Steve Day Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Charlie, Very nice work! I like the way the legs fold up. We had a great time sailing around the Pensacola/Mobile Bay area last weekend. Ingram's had no less than 11 boats anchored in it. Most of them were 35' or larger, so we gave up and sailed on over to Pirate's Cove and anchored off shore there (lot's of boats in their bayou too). Sailed over to Perdido Key and messed around with the dinghy while anchored up next to the dune on a superb day. The winds were a constant 15 knots or so from the WSW almost all weekend, so we were able to sail all of the way east and west in the Intercoastal, except for the ditch. Pulled the boat up to Lulu's on the way back west on Sunday and had a very nice dinner, though a little expensive. That was the first time I have been able to take my boat to Lulu's (She draws 5' 6"). Had a roaring good sail both up and down Mobile Bay with one reef in the main and all of the Genoa. Was pushing 7 knots all the way both ways. The little Spindrift followed right along, just like she's supposed to. I promised to leave you some good sailing. Believe me, it is still there! The aft leg (the single one) is very wobbly with just the single hinge- the table is going back to the shop tomorrow to have a wider piece of wood added so I can use two hinges about 5 inches apart. Should stabilize it quite a bit. Otherwise the whole thing is working just as expected Quote

The hitch is gonna hit the ball sometime Tuesday after noon- Laura is SO up for this she's been working on getting the boat ready for over a week now. Emptied it all out, scrubbed it down inside and out, washed every thing and has completely reloaded the boat. I think if we could she would have us leaving in the morning I think I'm getting kicked off the boat for one day of the trip. A female friend is flying in from Ind and I think the two of them are gonna have a "ladies day" one day. I have a choice of several boats to sail aboard that day. Should be a blast Quote
Mark Hughes Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Beautiful work as usual, Charlie. One question though- I was expecting to see some sort of raised lip around the top to keep things from sliding/rolling off. Won't that be a problem with the formica top? Quote

On our 21 footer we seldom would use the table except at anchor. Then I don't think we'd have a problem. We also use plates and bowls with a ring of rubber around the bottom- they don't slide . Of course, if we eat while sailing on that boat, it's from a bowl, clutched tightly in hand. On the 25 footer I'm restoring any table will definitely have fiddles- she's a seagoer Quote
