Weekender SNUPI Builder Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 I switched from Netscape a while back to Bill Gates "Wonder Browser"! Now I find that unless I rip &* tear when posting, (particularily if I'm taking a bit of time to locate pics & resize), I get a window aadvising me that the page has expired, even though I'm still connected to the internet provider ! It seems that unless I'm lucky, when I log in AGAIN ........ I LOSE THE POSTING and HAVE TO REDO IT ! Grrrrrrrrr ! I not at all knowledgeable about I.E. ........! However I'm quite willing to contribute generously to any joint Messin' About fund raising effort to purchase a surface to surface missle or 2, to ....... well you get the idea !:evil: ???????? Quote

Frank Hagan Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Graeme, the software will "kick you off" if you spend more than 24 minutes. There's also a "clean up" routine that could affect you that runs about every two hours, but it sounds like you are getting it more often than that. There's also the possibility that its your "cookie" settings in IE. In IE, go to "Tools * Internet Options" and click on the "Privacy" tab if it isn't showing already. At the bottom you'll see a section for "Web Sites" and the text "To override cookie handling for individual web sites, click the edit button". So click the "Edit" button and in the "Address of Web Site" box, enter "www.messing-about.com" (without the quote marks). Then click on "Allow". Click "OK". You should be back to the "Privacy" tab. The slider on the "Settings" should be at either "Medium High" or "High". If it is on "Block All Cookies", you will always have trouble staying logged in. Quote

I just finsished "More SNUPI Sanding", then came in, printed your message and made the adjustments as you suggested. I didn't electrocute myself in the process and most of the smoke has stoped coming from the "box thangie with the tiny lites and strange looking slide out drawers ! I ran into the "WARNING, THIS PAGE HAS EXPIRED". etc , etc ! , again...... right on the heels of that 2nd message when I tried to go "back" to the forum ! I'll probably get it again after this message. For some reason , old faithful, Netscape 4.7, won't do a thing with this site ! The 4.7 Netscape opening "Messing About" window has several bars at the top , however the "LOGIN" bar is dead in the water ! For what it's worth, this home office PC work and my other personal IBM I have at my office at Century 21 work just fine with all of the several real estate and MLS sites I have to work with regularly. Guess go back to SNUPI finishing and leave the 'puter playing to others ! Sorry folks, my frustration level and dislike for Internet Explorer just got ratcheted up a notch ! Quote

Netscape 4.7 will not work with the site any longer. The newer version of Netscape will, although AOL-Time Warner really bloated it up just prior to releasing it, and now they have discontinued it. You might try downloading the MYIE2.COM browser ... it actually uses IE as the core application, so its a small download, but adds a lot of Netscape-like features to it. It works fine with the site. And its free. Go to http://www.myie2.com/html_en/home.htm to take a look at it. Quote
