I will be home on the 1st and I will be able to pull out the sketches of the mast tabernacle that I did for Mike a year or so back. I've seen one like it since then and it was slick to use and easy to fabricate.

I hadn't been to the site since before the 23' Montgomery was finished; the design looks pretty nice ... I like the Lyle Hess designs. But, it is pricey at $55,000. Out of my range this year, I'm afraid!

I've been playing around with something close using wood, but was not satisfied with it due to bulkiness. I went to the steel yard and looked at their short rack for something else to use instead.

Thanks for the link, you have given me some confidence that I am not totally off :roll:

I hadn't thought about using a come-a-long attached to the stays, being stuck on the counter weight idea. This may be a better option to the negative ballast of a counter weight. Though I was also thinking about a removable counter weight that I could keep in my truck.

My son, the Overhead Door Guy, still claims a garage door short spring attached to the cabin roof will work with the set up you are showing me. I think he wants to rename my boat BOANG!

Never the less, I think I am going to go with the method you posted, even though I'll have to get a longer mast I suspect. I don't want those metal plates sticking up to far.

Hopefully, I will get my boat up right by this Wensday, the weather hasn't been good enough to epoxy out doors, so I'm praying for sun the next few days.

I put a new bottom on the Vacationer, those four sheets of marine 1/4 I had on hand went down reaL well. I'll be real surprised if she ever leaks again. :wink:

Barry, please do post those diagrams again, I seem to have misplaced them.
