Barry Pyeatt Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 I think it may have been a case of "RHIP". His boat will draw a lot of attention and be a feature of the show so why not? A lot of people will remember seeing it on the dock last year and will be drawn to it in the water. Good for the show and good for Capt. Jake as well. He deserves some good recoginition for his effort. It might also have something to do with size of his boat vs. the "Yachts". Oh....RHIP....Rank Hathe Its Priviledges! Quote

I am hoping the weather holds as it has all week (contrary to the weather forecast). That with a crowd watching, I would back the trailer down the ramp and into the water. As I slowly back, people cheer as the boat touches the water for the first time. Then the crowd is silent, but I'm looking in my side mirror to make sure I don't trap the trailer guide posts under the dock, and don't notice what's happening. I hear a gasp, and looking up into the rear view mirror, I see that the boat doesn't float, and only the mast is sticking up out of the water. I look up to see the crowd, shaking their heads and slowly turning and walking away. I hear one of them ... my best friend ... say "Do you know this guy?" I had that dream twice. Launch day was spectacular, of course, but the pressure can be immense! Quote

Launch day is always a big deal for the builder. Enjoy yourself! This is the culmination of a lot of work and time. Remember, a little of the wine for the boat, and the rest for the participants and onlookers. This is supposed to be a party! I wish I could share in this happy event personally, but I anticipate the photos and will be there in spirit. May she float fair and sail well. Showing her off at the show is a really cool way to start her career on the water. I envy you. Steve Quote

Weather report now it light rain and 0 wind today. Barry better bring his waders to stay dry! Me? I can't find the lower half of the rain gear since the move, of well. Tom Holder Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 I've put my digital in a zip-lock baggie and taken rafting pics and underwater pool pics of the kids. Just make sure the plastic is flat across the lense when you snap and they will turn out ok - not great but good enough for action shots. Use a sandwich one with thin plastic for taking the pictures and a freezer one for storing it whilst underway. Happy launching. Quote
