Question for Scott Church

Scott I saw your Core Sound yesterday on the west coast trailer sailers web site. Do you have a picture of how you mounted the outboard?

You all sure seem to have a lot of fun down there. I always enjoy the pictures of the outings you all have. I hope to join in sometime when I get some experience sailing my Belhaven.

Hi Scott. I'm out of town and just saw your post. I'll snap a picture when I get home but basically I'm using a Fulton bracket which slides into an adapter so I can easily remove the whole works (and get my garage door closed).

By all means bring that Belhaven South sometime. You'd get a ton of attention at the Cedar Key Small Boat Gathering.

Back in town. Here are a couple of shots of the placement of the transom adapter and outboard bracket as promised. Got the bracket off eBay for $25 and the adaptor from a loose pile of unboxed half price items at West Marine for $30. Mounting hardware came with bracket. Used 3" stainless washers on the inside. Holes epoxy sealed and marine sealant everywhere.

Thanks Scott. I cant decide what kind of mount to use. I bought one off of ebay but it is a fixed bracket. I have done some measurements and it will work perfect as far as mounting the outboard and using it. The problem is I can not tell if it will clear the water tilted back when not in use. I don't think there would be any problem when the hull is sailing level or heeled to the opposite side of the motor. But when she is heeled over to the motor side the prop may get in the water. When I get the hull turned back over then I'll clamp the mount on with the motor and see how much clearance we have. If it won't work I will buy a mount like you have. Really should anyway but I allready have this one so I try it first.
