  1. Unlike a lot of you guys I have only room for a single trailered vessel so when I get the itch to acquire something different to spice up life (a monthly event) I'm forced to consider selling my beloved CS17. I am at that point now and really on the fence about parting with her. So I'll just type this out and see if I click send or not. I consider her the best sail camping boat for my sailing grounds (West Coast of Florida). I regularly sail camp the barrier islands here. For those of you not familiar with this boat it was built by Gordy Hill who is a regular contributor to this forum (use the search function to see his posts, many regarding this boat). The layout is slightly different from the plans in that there is a large casting (and sleeping) area between the masts. It should be obvious in the pictures. She is structurally in great shape with only cosmetics needed to bring her back to her original condition. As for the price Gordy gave me what I consider a great deal which I'll pass on to her next owner provided they're a CS17 fan (which is why this where I'm posting here). Boat and Trailer for $2500 which I would guess is about half the cost of raw materials (check out the custom tent in the pictures). Sawdust is located in Dunedin FL. My email address is churchscot@aol.com. I may have to get Frank's help for adding pictures to this post but for now check out the pics and info authored by Gordy at http://groups.msn.com/SmallBoats/gordyscoresound17.msnw?albumlist=2 and a couple of pictures from last Saturday's sail can be seen at http://members.ij.net/wctss/wctss/photo4.htm and a pic of my family at the Cedar Key event can be seen at http://members.ij.net/wctss/wctss/ck3.htm A google search with the keywords gordy and core sound or maybe sawdust should pick up a few more pics. Let's see now... submit or delete... submit or delete... hmmm

  3. Back in town. Here are a couple of shots of the placement of the transom adapter and outboard bracket as promised. Got the bracket off eBay for $25 and the adaptor from a loose pile of unboxed half price items at West Marine for $30. Mounting hardware came with bracket. Used 3" stainless washers on the inside. Holes epoxy sealed and marine sealant everywhere. [attachment over 4 years old deleted by admin]
  4. Hi Scott. I'm out of town and just saw your post. I'll snap a picture when I get home but basically I'm using a Fulton bracket which slides into an adapter so I can easily remove the whole works (and get my garage door closed). Click on http://www.fultonperformance.com/products.php?group=46&subgroup=47 to see an example of both. By all means bring that Belhaven South sometime. You'd get a ton of attention at the Cedar Key Small Boat Gathering.
  5. Taking this numerology thing a step further, Scott spelled backwards kinda looks like 110 CS (CS#110). Oh, by the way, my name is Scott and I sail hull #11. Hmmm.
  6. That's me in the CS17. We had an wonderful 3 day weekend. Everyone loved the camping tent over the raised deck layout. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering such a modification. You may have noticed in some of the pictures that I was sailing only one sail. I was practicing the "furl up the main & relocate mizzen to center step" reefing method. I was amazed at how well it sailed using only 40% of the sail. I simply can't imagine a better open sail camping boat for one or two people. Dale Neimann who posts here is a member of the WCTSS and is in the process of building a CS17 so there should be plenty of future pics to browse.
  7. Great shots Rob! I noticed what appears to be an anchor roller and offset deck pipe. I am planning on just such a modification to my CS17. I would be interested in your experience making the modification and any closeup photos you might have. I have a 5kg Bruce anchor so I was considering the Windline BRM-2 anchor roller. Any and all advice appreciated.
  8. I've been pestering Gordy since I first laid eyes on Sawdust last November and at last he has relented. I am the extremely happy new owner of CS17 hull # 11. I can be seen grinning from ear to ear on the link http://members.ij.net/wctss/wctss/photo.htm while sailing her for the first time yesterday. I wanted to thank Graham for his wonderful design and Gordy for his excellent craftsmanship. She now resides in her very own garage in Dunedin.
