Center seam

Are people taping the center seams on the CS's before adding the keel batten? I was not planning to, but as always, would welcome the experience of others.

John I taped the centerline of my Belhaven with biaxal and then 9oz. cloth tape. I just assumed that that was what everybody does. But if I remember right Graham told me that it wasn't necessary to do that.

In fact by the time I got done with the filet and the taping, the keel batten needed very little fitting because I had a nice flat bed to lay it in.

I taped the centerline on my cs 17 because I have seen that using only the fillet matarial can be brittle.

You don't really need to glass the inside center seam. I do it because it is the easiest way to hold the bottom halves together to transition from the ties to the keel batten installed. If the center seam was just filleted it would most likely crack the fillet when you apply enough force to spring the keel batten into place.
