The Quakers still actively teach and practice the belief that "There is that of God in everyone." Not a pollyanna statement, by the way. It's directed more at how I see others than at how I see myself. The "light within", the presence of the Holy Spirit in each one, is a challenge to see and respond to that presence. Frank's One Rule is such a response. The effort and creativity he brings to the task is in turn an affirmation. No one said it would be easy or always possible to see that light or to call it forth.
