Puget Sound Weekenders

We kicked off our vacation this year with a small party. A good time was had by all! Thank's to Barry and Capt Ron for braving the I-5 traffic. It was great having some Weekender builders to compare notes with. I only managed to get one picture. That's me in the front, Barry in the middle and Capt. Ron from Kirkland in back.

What a motly looking crew! If there is ever a get together of all the weekenders, vactioners and B and B boats in the Norhtwest I hope it is posted on this forum. I don't have one built yet but I sure would like to go see them all and meet the owners. Should be quite a few boats.

Yes, and this was on a good day too.

I don't know about the others that attended, and there were many, but mostly neighbors and friends of Joel and his wonderful wife. They had a couple from Wisconsin that were first time visitors to the Puget Sound area. I think Mt. Rainier is a little overwhelming when you are used to the hills in the midwest.

I had a great time, they were great hosts. Anytime you get fresh Dungeness Crab at a gathering like this it is OK by me. Plenty of good food and friendship. Nice to meet their friends and sailing pals. They have a lovely home in Gig Harbor.

This is a nautical community if there is such a thing in the Northwest. Gig Harbor openes up into an incredible vista of Mt. Rainier and the south sound area. Great sailing country.

You are welcome on this side of the hill anytime you would like to visit. There are a few Weekenders finished in this area, all worth looking at. Don't know about Vacationeers yet, no one has poked their head up with one to my knowledge in this area. Don't know about smaller ones either.

From your posts, I gather you are located closer to Snake River country.

T. Nelson Surbrook might be closest to you.

I'm about 20 miles upriver on the Columbia River from where the Snake flows into the Columbia. I live along the Yakima river a few miles from where it flows into the Columbia. Ya, I'm from the Glow zone. Born and raized in this area (Tri-Cities: Richland, Pasco and Kenewick). Not as pretty as your side of the mountains, but it use to be a great place to live before all the people moved in. Funny how people move to a small place because they think they want to get away from the city and than the first thing they do is try to change to be just like where they came from. You are right Spokane is a little closer, but my son and his family live in Poulsbo currently. Boy do I love it over there. He is Navy so he won't be there forever.

Darned if I had to miss this gathering. I did end up taking the day off; but you know what I did; Yup, hanging siding.

Looks like a good time was had by all; I am glad the weather was good for teh gathering. :)

I tell ya what; when I am done with all of this, we will have another PS Weekender gathering at my house!!. Then I can relax and BBQ, socialize, etc!

Should we plan on Thanksgiving Weekend for that BBQ or do you think you will be finished before the leaves fall? If not then New Years?

Just want to plan a little time on the calendar for such an auspicious occasion.

We did have a good time and I got to meet some great people.

Barry! :shock: T Day? I am hoping to have the whole house done by then (excluding the sun room/addition thingy)! !

I was kinda thinking further out at this point!

As things get closer, I am contemplating all of the offers for a painting party, though there is a LOT of painting to be done. Give me some time on that on, as it will be a while off yet.

But a get together with all of us PSers would be great (and other traveling boaters, of course!). This gives me a light to look at, at teh end of the dark tunnel of construction.
