Thanks. Paint is rustoleum three coats did a nice job, really like the way the 11oz cloth finished out. Hate to be a copy cat on the paint scheme but Jeff's looked so good had to try the same on mine.

Finally got around to skinning my boat. Used the 11oz poly from Jeff, worked out good easy to sew on tight without any pull holes showing. Now on to paint.

Looks good. I used nylon on my stonefly and just finished skinning a shad with the 11oz poly. I think the 11oz would work well for you it's seems to be fairly user friendly and there's not much sewing to do on the canoe. Have fun.

I used aromatic cedar for stringers, gunwales and breast hook.it's really cheap to buy around here and has a nice look. It's a bit heavier than WRC but final weight still under 50 lbs.

Been lashing it up in my spare time during the last week. It went together well no big surprises. The 1 in stringers were kind of strange to work out on the bow and stern, seemed like I never got them exactly where they should be, oh well not taking it to the fair.

Thanks, he is a good boy nothing better than black GSD's.. One thing to keep in mind is the floor pieces are long so if your using plywood it's simpler with full sheet. I don't remember the exact dimension but seem to think it was 60 something inches. I ended up using baltic birch plywood 5x5 that I bought online and was shipped in 6 pieces. On the floor I just used some a/c with several coats of exterior enamel paint. No problems so far.living in the middle of nowhere compromises have to me made.

Putting the floor on top of the frames sounds like a good idea. A seat with a back would be a nice option. Have to get mine out and look at it before spring and see what might work.

The seat is hard for me to use, my back gets tired pretty fast. I usually paddle on my knees have thought about just taking the seat out. Probably not a great option for people with bad knees.

I really like my stonefly. I have had many different canoes over the years and this is by far the most fun to paddle, great fishing boat also. It's gets a lot of looks from other boat people.

Stuck the frames on last night and bungeed the stringers in place, I like it already also the spruce for making a paddle came

Started on building a shad. I decided if I could get a laminated combing built I could build the rest with no problem. I used some aromatic cedar I had left over from building my stonefly canoe. It came out ok at least for the first time I've ever tried something like that but could have been better, next time. Couldn't find any WRC locally but did find some nice clear cypress in 12 ft lengths that were priced reasonably, he even planed them to thickness for me. Got the stringers glued up and sanded. Working on frames and should have some pcs of them and start the assembly this week.
