To your question yes the keel is the only stabilization on the boat with no daggerboard. one of the lakes we sail in is very shallow, the boat sail good even with 2 large adults in it and with the rudder fully down I only need about 3 feet of water to sail in.

Hi Joe, I built a PD Racer last year for my girls and they loved it. If your worried about the bottom I used 1/2 inch ACX plywood and never had a problem with it. I put a small keel on it and that made it track real well plus it gave it support in the middle of the boat. I had it out one weekend and me and a buddy sailed it in 20+ miles pre hour winds with no problem with both of us in it.

Thanks Jole, The shoe is 1/4 of an inch thick, I used 1 1/4 phillips tapered stainless screws and pre drilled all holes first, Then I tapered the UHMW so the screw were flush and would't get caught on any thing, then I mixed some epoxy up and brushed it on the keel and layed down the shoe and screwed it down to seal it so far no problems.

Ive been using it on my boat for the past 3 years and been working great no scratches on the bottom of my boat, I also put it where the bunks sit when the boat is on the trailer here are some pic dry filled.

well the le dolphine got some new sails. Ill be taking it out tomorrow the forecast is for light winds 5-10 mph and around 84-88 deg sounds like a perfect day to me Ill post pict tomorrow 8)

Hellow, On my weekender I fiberglassed and painted everything before I installed my rub rails, upper trim, cleats, so far everything still working great going on my third season of sailing with the boat.

Yes I have used their product I used 635 thin epoxy resin with 4:1 hardener on my weekender in 2005 and still working great easy to use, I bought the pumps for the jugs they worked great in giving the right amount never had a problem with them. I've used it in 40 degree weather with no problem, and in 65 degree weather to it just sets up faster the warmer it gets, and they have great prices. and if you have any questions on using the product just give them a call and let them know where you live they will set you up with right product for your area like they did me and the nice thing about this epoxy that it doesn't smell bad when mixed. Adifferentbreed whitch boat are you going to build.

The basic material is metal the shank is 21 inches long by 3/4 inches round the flukes are 20 inches from point to point the stock is 21 inches by 1/2 inch from ball to ball with the bend the flukes are 1/8th inch thick by 2 inches wide by 3 1/4 inches long to the point the fluke arms are 3/4 inch round all welded and the stock hole is welds down each side to make it stronger from drilling a hole for the stock, painted it with rust-oleum black hammered finish. we just cut all the metal to the right lengths layed them on the concrete the way we wanted and welded away.

Hi Captain Jake, yes I think Ill hang it up front off the bow sprit with some oak cut outs on each side that hold it in place. most of the places we sail around here have sandy bottoms, dont think Ill have a problen getting it stuck.

Well my friend and I welded a few kedge type anchors the past few days mine is about 8lbs the next few will weight more, we thought it would be fun to make our own. next week we will try them out. here are some pict.

Well what a trip we had we went up to the Sawtooths here in Idaho to a lake called Stanley lake. We arrived Thursday morning and set up camp. I put the Brick in the water on Friday and what a great day for it. The wind was constant and would gust up to 25 mph! At first I thought it would tip, but it was very stable and I have found I need more sail! It sailed excellent! Because of how easy it was to sail both my daughter and my wife actually sailed it! We all had a great time! Here are some pics for you to see!

HI Frank and Oyster, launch date will be next week around thursday were going camping up in the mountians so when it hits the water I will take some pictures. Oyster you were right the girls were just an excuse to build another boat but as it turns out the girls cant wait to sail in it so I can see in the near furture I will have to build another one for myself, plus my wife is excited about the boat and thats always a plus.

About a month ago I wanted to build a small sailboat for my girls they love sailing so I found some plans for a bolger brick. so hear I am just a few days from finishing the boat. just have to finish painting then do the rigging and finish the sail whitch will be a gaff set up, and better yet it fits in the back of my truck. just a few pics.

Here are a few pictures I took to give you an idea on how it looks with a gallon of paint for the circle in the picture you will see a pen on the back side of the rudder that space will have a bungee cord that runs throught the top of the rudder box and a cam cleat on top when you want to put your rudder down, as you pull the bungee it pulls the rudder down and holds it in place and if you hit bottom or something it releases it so it wont break your rudder.

Went sailing today with my wife and two girls had a great time, each time I take the boat out it seems to get better each time, today we had winds blowing about 8 to 12 mph the boat handles great, today was the fastes the boat has ever gone and it felt great. last weekend we had 4 adults on board with light wind and the boat had no problem with all of us in it. It really supprised me with 4 of us on it how stable it is we had three in the back and my friend uly sat up in the front with his feet inside the hatch.

I made some fenders out of pool noodles and they work great, I used three strand soft poly rope the noodle is about 18 inches long and in the middle of the noodle I tied all the strands 5 of them with nylon string to keep them from pulling away, cut the 3 strand rope to the length you want and push it through the hole in the noodle and tie it at the bottom then melt the strands together and you have a fender.

My friend uly or on this site known as smoolie671 gave me a wonderful B- day supprise this weekend, all I knew was that on saturday we were flying some where. well to shorten the story a little flew into portland OR him and his wife rented a car and off we went had no idea where we were going so I sat back and relaxed, It was funny because about 3-4 miles before we got into coos bay they handed me some ear plugs and couldnt figure it out then we get into town and their was a big sign saying drag racing friday, saturday, and sunday this weekend and I thought drag racing ok, so we keep driving down town when we came to a stop light and I looked over to the river inlet and there they were the lady washington and the hawaiian chieftian I about fell out of the car thinking no way, well sure enought they said supprise were go on the battle sail today, what a wonderful B-day gift it was a awsom day weather was great wind was 20+ miles per hour perfect, here are some pic,

Thanks everybody on your imput I wanted to have something that looked good and could lock without having a big lock with a hinge on it, it makes me feel alot better when I leave the boat parked or left outside before a trip with all my stuff in it, my front hatch has a lock on it to Ill post pic as soon as possible.

well the lock on my door is a garage door handle lock I just added a longer piece of metal so when you turn it in the lock position it holds the upper part of the part of door closed, and by the way Capt Jake things are looking great on your progress keep up the great work great to hear from you.
