Flagpoles for Princess 26 Mast?

A question to the Metallurgists: is it really so important to use 6061 Aluminum? or does another alloy they sell work too? Are the different alloys so different that is it important to get the only one?

Sonke - In the past Graham has recommended substitutes for 6061-T6 when someone hasn't been able to get that particular alloy (it's difficult to get 6061-T6 in Australia, for example). Unfortunately I don't remember which alloy he recommended. If you ask him directly he'll be able to help you. Let us know what you find out.

Hello All!
thanks for your words. I just initiated this topic, because of the possibility to get these flagpoles for 100€.
So i learned here that it is not a good choice to use them.
I am still at the stage of converting all the measurement to metric and did not start "real building" yet. 
The everydays life takes more time than i like ;-)
But it is good to know that there is a good solution for the mast building.
When being in the stage of this  i will best write to Graham for the actual specifications for the tubes.
Good to know, that the "tensile strength" is the important factor for picking the mastmaterial.
