Great Falls in Lewiston Maine after 7 inches of rain over Saturday and Sunday

Yeah, no real damage.

I have some leaks in roof that I am working on resolving, but 7 inches over 2 =days is a whole lot of rain....

But I guess I really don't comprehend We sometimes get 6 or 7 inches in a three hour thunderstorm, ditches get full, then in a few hours it's all gone.. I can't visualize having that after 7 inches..

Was in Jacksonville Florida once, on the Naval Air Station, when we got 6 3/4 inches in 33 MINUTES. The aircraft parking spots were two, three feet deep, but in 2 hours it was gone

Different parts of the world I suppose. As I said, I simply can't imagine.

River crested at 16 feet above normal levels. Flood stage occurs at 13 feet above normal.

Unlike Texas and Florida we have lots of terrain changes here and hills nd valleys. that makes a big difference over flat land..

See the falls on the left of the photo? This is called "West Pitch" the Abnaki who lived in this area used to run this pitch in their Birch Bark Canoes rather than portage it when going downstream..

the Abnaki also used to gather here every spring and net and spear Salmon as they made their runs up river before the dams and pollution killed off the Salmon Runs.
