is there a tandem kayak plan or kit in the near future ?

Short answer is don't expect one in the near future but it is on the list.

Long answer is I have had a few inquires about a tandem. Bottom line is I don't want one but I need to build one to test it. It might take two boats to get it right. Then they are just going to hang around taking up space. I know a tandem is never going to be a big seller and it takes a lot of hours to develop one. Odds are it would take me a couple years to break even. So I keep putting this one off but that doesn't mean I have won't design one. I have worked on a couple designs but I just never get motivated enough to follow through.

Yes. no problem there. I design most boats around a 250 lb displacement. They will handle more than that. Foot room should be good too.

witch one , do you like better ; Firefly or long shoot ?

Style wise, Firefly. I have always loved the Baidarka. Hands down it's my choice in looks.

Paddling, it is a toss up. They have very similar hull shapes and performance is virtually the same. If I were racing I would chose the Firefly because it has a slightly lower resistance at the higher speeds and that little bit can be the difference in winning and loosing. Anything else it's just which ever you like the looks of better.

I paddle a Long Shot 95% of the time. I have wanted a Firefly since I built the first one for a client. Knowing how similar they are I keep talking myself out of building one and try to spend that time on a new design instead. But one of these days I am going to build a Firefly for myself.
