N.C. Maritime Museum Boat building projects

Here are a couple of boats I saw at the boat building shop across the street from the Maritime Museum in Beaufort N.C.! The lapstrake boat is a replica of a rescue boat used to rescue shipwrecked sailors off the coast of N.C. It will be on display at the Maritime Museum. Looks like they are using a batten to mark the planks, and a shot of their clamp system. The other boat is a creek boat with a unique propulsion system don't you think? And did you notice, it's made with knotty pine? The box behind the seat holds the battery. sorry, I don't know much about the strip planked boat in the background. while not B&B boats, I thought you might enjoy the pic's anyway.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Neat clamping idea - great use for scrap ply.  Nice, neat elec system for that little skiff. Could be adapted to one of the little BnB boats.  Rick

Those clamps are the same as builders of Lapwing are using.  The little electric boat looks like a direct copy of one of Douglas Little's boats.  Doug lives just west of Wilmington, NC and wrote a book on the electric system for small boats.
