Launching was a mistake...

I first launched my Vacationer nine years ago, and that was a mistake.

Why?  Because from that point forward, all I wanted to do was sail the thing, not work on it (and complete it).  

It's taken me nine years to get the motivation, but as of last night I declared the interior cabin to be ready for primer.

With a new house, a 5 week old baby, a 4 yr old boy and a 6 yr old boy, I Have No Idea How That's Possible.  But it is.

I've forgotten how much I love sanding in confined areas with high temps.  

You know:  Sweat in the eyes, breathing whatever-it-is-you're-sanding, all balled up inside a cabin holding a screaming belt sander or r.o. sander.

It's so awesome...

I'm with you, brother.  I launched Southbound two years ago for a test sail and almost all the unfinished details are still unfinished details.  On top of that I've got wear and tear to repair at this point in time and I have no clear plan to install the mizzen staysail hardware now that I know I can make due with strategic knots.  Finish it BEFORE you sail it!  Entropy is watching and waiting...  And my cockpit tent is only mostly finished.

Well, the interior is as done as it's gonna get this summer. 

I smoothed/sanded the interior surface, primed and painted with multiple coats of paint.

I also put down a layer of 3/4" dow board between the 1x4 jointers on the bottom and covered it all with leftover carpet from the house.

Really, the interior wasn't as much work as I thought it would be.  Had I known I could complete in in two weeks just diddling around off-and-on, I'd have done this nine years ago.  :
