I'm building a spindrift 11n. The plans say use gudgeon/pintle from Racelite RL358, RL358l, RL358s, and spring RLl337. The pintle opening is only 3/4". Clearly the wrong part. The "spring" is not a spring at all. What are the correct part numbers? Also the gooseneck shown has a curved base plate. The specified part, RL328 has a flat base plate. Doesn't work very well on a round mast. It seems that many of these boats have been built, so why are there still so many errors in the plans and specs?

You should call B&B and ask them for the correct part numbers.  There have been changes from the plan sets on my Spindrift 12, which they helped me with and saved me a bit of money too.  Their prices and delivery is very good.  They get a gold star from me!

The straps have to be bent out to fit the width of the cheeks of the rudder, on the S11 size hardware it is very easy.

The hold down spring worked pretty well on Spindrifts if you filed a notch in just the right place or the spring would jump aft of the pintle pin. We switched to the turn button which works reliably if you put a washer under the turn button and tighten the screw so that it turns freely but not loose. It should stay that way if you caulk the screw which you should anyway.

We only supply round base goose necks.
