We've got the panels rough cut and scarfed, but need to loft and draw in the lines and plane down to the final shape before we can start stitching like you. The yellow boat hanging from the ceiling is a Maas Aero rowing shell and the white boat just above the Swifty is a Maas 24 rowing shell. Three of the reasons I am just starting on the CS17. You do on the CS20, but maybe the 17 is different. I'm re-scarfing my inwales as we speak. I probably didn't let the joint cure enough because one inwale popped apart at the scarf under the force of the curve. Best of luck! Quote
marvinwus Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 That was a good question concerning the inwales and I had to look over the construction sequence for an answer. I will fillet and tape the hull seams and then install the inwales. I will do the forward bulkhead and transom afterwards. Quote
marvinwus Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 Its time to start building again. I am looking for a source for the aluminum tubing for the masts. The specification is for 9'5"x2.5"x.083" and 6'x2.25"x.065" aluminum 6061 T6 tubing. I can find the 2.25" at onlinemetals in Seattle, but they only carry the 2.5" in .125" thickness. Any suggestions? wkisting Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I got my aluminum sections from Graham. I was very pleased. If you haven't been following the other thread about mast length, be sure to ask Graham for updated plans for the mast length to ensure you have the most recent/accurate dimensions. Some builders have come up with incorrect mast lengths due to older variations in the plans. Graham is very accommodating and helpful if you just give him a call to discuss it. Quote
