Richard Whitney CS#70 Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 Question to those of you a couple of steps ahead of me. So far I have only used temporary screws for glueing. I am just getting ready to put in the side seat stringers. Have others just glued then, or used screws through the bulkheads? Also have you put a small piece of wood attached to the bulkheads at either end of the stringer to help carry the weight. Thanks Richard Quote
Brent Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 For the stringers that run from forward bulkhead to aft bulkhead along the inboard seat sides I used a permanent screw through the bulkhead to hold the stringer inplace while the epoxy fillet set. A backing block to help spread the load is a good idea, but I did not think of it. By the time the seat sides get filleted to hull, bulkhead, and stringer the load along this stringer is spread across a long area. These seat sides add a great deal of stiffness to the hull. Quote
Gordy Hill Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 I set my seat sides outboard about an inch and used a 1x2 seat stringer on the inboard side of the side. This made the seat about 1 inch wider. (I need that with my seat) Also, it gives an overhang that I store my sprits under. Quote
