New Boat

A work in progress. Built this boat last summer to provide rowing exercise for my wife and I here in Ventura Harbor, California. She is 15' OA and with a 4' 8" beam, constsructed of 6mm Okume marine ply and weighs in at 145 pounds. Inspired by B & B Yachts cat ketch rigs I purchased 16' carbon fiber masts and a couple of Sabot sails. Unsure of the balance point I've arranged a temporary leeboard which can moved fore and aft a bit. Once balance has been determined a daggerboard will be fitted. We've enjoyed rowing her for several months and look forward to sailing her for the first time next week. Comments?

Very nice, Geofrey! I'm interested to see how you like the cat ketch rig once you get it balanced out, especially how it does in the local waters (I'm in Oxnard, and I've always wondered how the rig would do in our combination of pretty consistent wind and 3 - 5' seas.)

The very thought that a body may, on any given day, go down to the local hardware store, throw a few hundred dollars of wood onto a flat, take it home and build themselves the horizon.....

When I get down watching the world drive around in their little cookie-cutter Lexus cages, this board is the very best in renewing my faith in humanitys freedom and spirit.
