Micro Trawler Update

Well, winter has arrived faster than expected. We have the Micro Trawler ready to get wet, but not done. An executive decision was made to wait until spring. We could have dropped the 9.9 on her, and putted around the lake, but it would not have been done. So, we are going to get all the inside stuff done over the winter, and in the spring, really get wet.

I am some what disapppointed, but would rather have it all ready before I put it on the water.

We got the paint on the hull before it got too cold, finished putting the windows in and I have the windsheild on order. Also picked up a small heater so I can work in comfort all winter

Looking good.. I've been wanting to see a Micro Trawler "in the flesh" for quite some time. In motor boat musing, I keep going back and forth between something like "Champlain" and Micro Trawler. I like the fact that the trawler can get up and go when you want to... If I were to build something like champlain.. might as well build a sailboat with better accomodations than I have now.... same speed but more options as far as sail vs motor power.

Anyway, I may have to watch the winter weather and schedule and may contact you if the words "road trip" echo through my cabin fevered brain.

I'm in Moline, Illinois a couple of hops skips and jumps away for sure, but closer than any other micro trawler I've seen on the web.

John, I am hoping to make it to the Minnesota Mess about in June on Lake Pepin. That might be closer, and if I make it there, you can ride on the boat as well. I had hoped to get there this year, but just did not get the boat done. Oh well, I am only a year off.

If you feel the need for a road trip. you are welcome to head up here and see it also.

Pepin fell at the same time as BEER this year. We watched our weather both places, and when it looked good for Florida, that's where Thomas (my 12 year old) and I went.

Pepin was our "fall back" position if schedule and weather didn't allow for the other.

I do want to get to Pepin... but then again.. the weekender is impressive to the fiberglass boat crowd. My weekender wouldn't be as impressive in a group of "Gold Plater" Stevenson boats..

It's a little rough around the edges and "well loved"

Stephen Thank you for your hospitality and leading me to this site. My wife was charmed and is realizing that while I might be crazy, I'm not alone. She is differentiating boats! As we pulled in your yard she said, "Oh, it's a Microtrawler." No more "They all look the same".

I'm in Pepin, Wi. just across the lake and downriver of the messabout site. I've missed the two years I've known about it for work conflicts. Next year it's first on the schedule. Might even get a boat done. Now I gotta clean that shed. Great trip up the river by boat or car. Bring that Weekender up. Looks good to me.

I like the color too! But I have to confess, Emily chose the color scheme. Same color on her pram, so they match

Another reason, I just did not want a white boat. the roof is white to reflect heat and sun light, but I wanted the rest to have some more color.

I will try to post more photos as I get more of the interior done.

Bob, thanks for making the drive up to see the boat, any one else that is in the area and wants to stop by. just let me know.
