Yes but didn't make Thursday's schedule so now have to fly Fri or Sat. The Wx weasle says rain both days. How soon can I retire again??

I'm going to take my Spindrift over and show it there. I can only make it over on Saturday and will have to go with the truck. We caught a charter on the big boat for the weekend, so I won't be able to sail it over for the show.

I intend to take pictures while there. Anyone need anything?

Its usually a fine show for all sizes, too.Guys have fun, as we will be getting the normal bad weather for the Beaufort show. I am not sharing in it, but have some folks that plan on taking in a sail trip, weather being acceptable. I got my gold leaf name on the boat today, finally.

Are you taking a boat to the show?

I have two on the the benches but nothing completed. My intention was to finish another nutshell dinghy for the event, but other work got in the way.

Make sure you say hello when you see me tomorrow. Always great to meet another boat builder in the area. Look for the Spindrift 10N set up for sailing. If the winds are not too much, I'll have the sail up. Sail number is 447.

It was just a shot in the dark as to the shirt size. Better to guess too large and make you feel good.

I've haven't seen a picture of you that would give me a proper perspective to guess shirt size. :? Guess I'll have to pay more attention in the future.

I suppose the cradle-boat is still occupied. I would have like to have seen that as well. I need to start work on one for a friend and I'm still undecided about which plan. I haven't seen a picture of one as nice as yours yet.

I had a great time at the show and the Spindrift won 3rd place in sailing boats less than 16'. I met a lot of nice folks at the show.

I took the cradle boat with me and set it up next to the Spindrift just for fun to see what kind of reaction it would bring. There were a lot of people that were interested in the Spindrift and a lot of guys were intrigued with the nesting feature. However, almost every woman that walked by was VERY interested in the cradle. With the ladies, the cradle was a major hit! :shock:

It was nice to meet the builders and owners around here, including our friend, lbrewer. (Pardon me, I forgot your first name) :oops: :oops:

I have a lot of photos, but it will take me a couple of days to sort them out.

It was a great show with lots of boats and lots of great folks. The celebration continues today. Steve it was really good to meet you. I'm glad one of us remembered a camera :oops: . (BTW the first name is Larry)

If you can believe it, Steve's Spindrift is even more impressive in person than in the pictures. The cradle is also a treat.

Small boats on display included a couple of Sea Pearls, a similar hull of Chapelle design, a Herreshoffe Haven, a bateau.com GV11, a Simmons sea skiff and a Bolger skiff I had never seen before. There were numerous sailing dinghies, canoes and kayaks as well as a couple of mini-tugs that earmed their keep towing some of the daysailers upwind out of the inlet. There were also plenty of larger vessels, both power and sail, on display and moored off the beach. I missed the Joshua not being there this time, a 72 ft. shoal draft schooner built by Gene Zirlott. I used to have a 65 full keeled sloop built by Gene's father Nathaniel.

There is a festival atmosphere with music and food/beverages, a nice beach with kids playing with dogs. All in all its a nice annual event and worth the trip for anyone interested this sort of thing.

I talked to Carol the other day and asked if she was going to take Joshua over to the show. She had a couple of charters and was not willing to lose that revenue to go to the show. Too bad, 'cause they always seem to enjoy themselves.

I would have enjoyed that show, with such a wide variety of types and sizes of boats that go there. The location seems to be a nice setup. Until this spring, I had always done a trailer display with any hull that I have done. But with the inwater feature, such as the west coast show favored this spring, add that to the best of both worlds there, that would have fit my lifestyle for sure, now. Plus I have always heard, through the grapevine of course, that the elbow gatherings with the featured music added a lot to the flavor to the meet.

This weekend was grand, as we sailed all day sat, right past the show in Beaufort, while the flop show took place. I think many of the seasoned participants have said enough with the poor managment and stiff activities. Its a shame that Beaufort, with such a wonderfull facilities draws less and diverse boats each year. They may as well not have it.
