Especially this time of year. 8) Makes me want to get out on the water too. Maybe I'll just take a ferry boat to the other side of the Sound and look at some boats that are out of the water. :roll: Water temp here is low 50's as is the air temp too. But it is sunny. Quote

I could not believe how fast she went when the wind picked up and how well she moved in light air!!! all and all it was great day! Barry -- It has been in the mid to upper 70s here until today :? it was cool but hot on the island where we had lunch --- Freezing really by the time we loaded up and went home ..... i was so frozen from retrieving the boat...but it was worth it!!! And it isn't that far from me - considering i am in the middle of the desert the lake is close and HUGE --- that was just Calville bay - there is lots more lake than that! a. Quote

adla Posted February 12, 2006 Author Posted February 12, 2006 Oyster ! (glad you are back!!!) i did go and do it!!! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: boy did i want to go sailing this week! It looked so hopeless after i welded the hangers on the trailer in the wrong spot - and with school and work. BUT - i was determined. We left yesterday at about 9 am -- the lake is really close in that spot. But next time i will go 40 miles or so north and try the less crowded bay - the bass boats weren't really a bother until we tried to come back in - everyone was coming in at once and it was messy. the other projects - alice is waiting for her sides : and Viviane (my vacationer) is doing just fine under the carport - what i have been doing is making modification plans. That boat will get a square cabin and a nice interior....I am going all out for that boat...she sits in stasis though...It helps to have Morgaine on the water - I can conceptualize better with a model to play with. So - the things to be done for the next sail: Fix the steering Figure out why the rudder won't behave (i have an idea about this) Splash coamings rope ladder - ( i have a habit of jumping out of the boat like a little fish) and continue refinishing the spars and bright work with high gloss varnish and repaint the deck and cabin interior with a high gloss latex... It is so much easier to be inspired about working on Morgaine when she can be splashed....it was a fun day! a. Quote

adla Posted February 13, 2006 Author Posted February 13, 2006 Hey Noel, not all water is created equally, eh....that area is a big "wipe off your ugly metal flake bass and cigarette boat" area. The lake is man made and alkaline as all get out - most people like to wipe down after being on the water. This one guy literally windexed his boat with a diaper after he got it out of the water...I used the area to set up my mast for launch and then to take it down after we got Morgaine out of the water. The latex high gloss paint held up great - no water line or anything...just hosed the hull off when i got home and she is good to go. It almost looks like it is mandatory from that pic - but it is just a courtesy area provided by the park. a. Quote
