trailer pains resolved

i have one ugly trailer but by tomorrow it will be back in business !!! no more sitting inert in the yard - Morgaine is going to hit the water soon. i'd like to build new trailers this summer ---knowing me i will wait until it is 110 before i start that project.

here is my total hack job - but the axle is straight and the springs are level and centered....what a pain!!!

I see you'll be having temps in the 70s later this week. Should be perfect for sailing. You'd better get out there and do it.

yes Dave - it has been unseasonably warm! i hope to go to Lake Mead this weekend...that is the plan. i put off fixing the trailer far too long but not because it wasn't a pain. btw - pay no attention to the fenders on that trailer -- they are crooked not the axle. They are fiberglass and need some work - but i will save the energy and focus on getting the spars back on the boat. (i have been varnishing and making small changes. i'm excited to get out on the water!

my favorite thing about this forum is the sharing of info - thankfully someone was kind enough to point out the error in my arrangement for the springs ---so, after a bit of grinding (quite a lot probably) i will weld the new hangers in a little different position and re-mount the axle --- hehehe yuck.

Have a great time. Make sure you take lots of pictures and tell us all the details when you get back. For some of us the water is much too hard to sail in.
