smoolie671 Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Well, the Morningstar got her first coat of bottom paint. Yes, it looks a bit splotchy but the next coat tomorrow should start to make that look better. By the weekend we should have her right-side-up and back on her cradle. Quote

My pirate ship is about half way there but it will look like an old weekender. You have some great ideas, good luck with them. I'd like to come up and see your launch. I did alot of soul searching and decided to have a local machine shop make them for me out of 3/4 inch thick tube with a half inch bore. I think thats the right dimensions...... Anyway, I figured since he was only going to charge me $10 to $12 bucks per cannon I would feel better about them than if I made them. They will have a 1 inch breech plug in them, and that makes me feel better standing behind them when ther'e fired. I put in an order for 6 about a month ago. He said it could take about that long since he had alot of other work first. I will be posting pictures of them as soon as I get then. In the meantime, I've been experimenting with a carbide cannon design. One of the prototypes scared the H E double hockey sticks out of my wife and I. It was 3 inch diameter pvc and about 5 inches long. I loaded it in the house thinking it wouldn't be THAT loud. "Man I hope this one works...." click BAM!!!!! It threw a flame about a foot, and made our ears ring for an hour! My loving wife promptly told me in no uncertain terms was I to EVER fire that damn thing in the house again! I'm thinking of selling them to guys like us that want to have a little clean fun out on the lake. Quote
