Oxford Dinghy Restoration

I just finished the restoration of the 10 ft Oxford dinghy. Thanks for the advice on some of my questions. The project included steaming new in and outwhales. The construction of the floor including floor logs to support the removable floor. Stripping and refinishing all the bright work. Fabrication of a new skeg and center board. And lots of wire brush work on the bronze fittings. Not to mention repairing and painting the hull in and out.

I hope you enjoy the photos, I should have some sailing pictures Saturday if the weather gets a little better.

What a good looking boat through out. Very nice job, very nice finish!

The pictures do inspire a question or two though. Just how many outboards do you have in there? And - um - have you noticed that your garage door seams to be - um - pink?

I have three out boards the 5hp Tahatsu for the Vacationer, a 2 hp that needs some work that is just the right size for the dinghy and that 45 hp that belongs to a friend. The 45 is on loan, if I can get it running I can use it on my next project the completion of a Stanbaugh Shoestring, 16ft center console.

Pink? I live with my wife and two daughters so I am in touch with my feminine side. My overhead door was unisulated, when I added heat to the shop I decided some additional protection was needed. As I have pieces of insulation board left over from jobs I add it to the door.

That is a magnificent job of restoration. One that will be a show stopper for sure. Should bring a lot of good comments and looks like it will be a lot of fun to sail too.
