Barry Pyeatt Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 What fun! I can think of quite a few around here that would love to have that modification to a Skipjack. My son has a neighbor building a Skipjack; but what he really wants is a Weekender because of the cabin. Size is perfect for him to take out with his small boy to teach him some basic sailing skills. I'll show him your mods. He's still at the framing stage so he could do something similar. Good show Buck. Quote
buck Posted July 23, 2004 Author Posted July 23, 2004 Thanks Guys, I introduced a forward bulkhead by the mastbox (Weekender style) and cut the other bulkhead out.(see photo) The cabin is and will reamain removeable. He'll have to put a tent over the cockpit to sleep in. However hopefully we'll be able to cartop it, to get to the New Zealand Messabout! Eh Wayne! I got quite envious building this for my son. It'll make the Skipjack into a nice simple camping boat without destroying many of its priginal qualities. We intend to stick to a lateen rig (for simplicity) with maybe a small jib. depending on centreboard balance. Quote
