Ken Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 All, Been putting more time in on the boat after getting back from vacation and not so much here in this forum. So thought I would post a couple pictures of my progress. I have pretty much finished the painting and am presently working on my rudder box, rudder and tiller. Will soon be finished with that and will install the stainless for the standing rigging and then move on to figuring out my preferences for halyards, sheets and extra lines. More to follow as I make progress. It is becoming more and more enjoyable as I am nearing the end, to be able to put the finishing touches to the boat in the different areas - feels like one is really making progress.... finally. Very sleek look you have there with the smooth floor extending under the seats. It that a blue traction tape of somekind or is that painted on? --John M. Quote
Ken Posted July 12, 2004 Author Posted July 12, 2004 John, That's my Sunday afternoon paint job - the navy paint was specially tinted for me at the local paint shop using deck and porch paint. THan just added the grit (also form the paint store) and rolled on the first coat - waited 20 minutes and added the second coat. Not counting the original taping of the areas to be painted, I was done and cleaned up and tape pulled off within an hour. I like quick progress!!! JMetzner Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Great pic Ken. Man I gotta get some non-skid on the boat. Saturday I had to stand atop the cabin in some heavy wind to pull down the main. Yow! Shrouds in one hand, mast rings in the other yanking away. All the while knowing my footing was marginal at best. I've got the paint and the grit, maybe I can get that done this week. I hadn't thought of using contrasting paint though....looks sharp! --John M. Quote

I heard you had a little excitement yourself, I hope it was an easy fix. I installed an oarlock on the transome just as a back up after the first time. I'll e-mail you my phone numbers, I meant to do that, but I didn't. :roll: If you have trouble again, your welcome to use my blue dory, you don't need a key. Jan Williamson Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 I really like your colors, Ken! Your non-skid looks great. Sounded much easier and quicker than the walnut shells. Other than some spots that came out kind of thick, my walnut shell non-skid came out ok. I am just starting the spars and rigging, waiting for paint to cure. Quote
